NiP rolls past Nostalgie

As easily as expected Ninjas in Pyjamas made their way past Nostalgie in the quarter-final of Mad Catz Invitational 2-0 (16-2 on de_nuke_se and 16-5 on de_dust2_se).

The Russian-Ukrainian mix team didn't really expect anything from their quarter-final clashwith NiP judging from their demeanor and they didn't get anything out of it in the end.

They started on de_nuke_se and NiP was already at an advantage after winning the knife round and getting to start on the CT-side. As soon as they begun, Richard "Xizt" Landström aced in the pistol round with a P2000 and things only got worse for the Russians from then on.

Round after round the Swedish giants rolled their opponents over, allowing them to win only 2 in the first half, and as it would turn out, in the match. The second pistol round could have went the Russians' way, but NiP won a 3-on-5 situation which consequently led to a 16-2 win on the first map.

Xizt & co. make their way into the semi-finals

These two teams met in the first group stage yesterday as well, and Nostalgie's map choice was the same as then, de_dust2_se. They lost 16-8 on day one, but it seemed that NiP now put their game face on and that the Russians had somewhat given up, as testified by the Swedes' 14-1 first half lead as CTs. Six rounds later this quick match was finished and NiP ended up victorious 16-5, securing a place in the semi-final.

NiP continued their unflappable LAN streak and are well on their way to another title. Their next challenger will be the winner of ESC Gaming vs. LDLC.com clash in the semi-final of Mad Catz Invitational scheduled to start as soon as the teams are ready.
